  1. Overview

The Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) seeks an experienced Project Manager to assist with developing and executing cohort-based training programs and overseeing various program initiatives for the Chamber. This is a short-term contract (3-6 months) with an expected start immediately.

The selected consultant will work closely with MBCC’s Board of Directors, and key stakeholders to build out and implement structured cohort-based learning experiences, project execution strategies, and program development initiatives that align with MBCC’s mission.

  1. Scope of Work

The consultant will provide project management support and program execution assistance, including but not limited to:

  1. Cohort-Based Training Development & Execution
    • Design, structure, and implement training programs for MBCC members and partners.
    • Develop a timeline, curriculum framework, and participant engagement strategy.
    • Coordinate with facilitators, subject matter experts, and community stakeholders.
  2. Program Development & Execution
    • Support the execution of MBCC-led initiatives such as the 10,000 Black Business Program (10K BBP) and other chamber-sponsored programs.
    • Develop tracking mechanisms for program success and participant engagement.
    • Ensure alignment with grant and funding requirements where applicable.
  3. Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting
    • Liaise between MBCC staff, board members, funders, and external partners.
    • Prepare progress reports, presentations, and impact summaries for MBCC leadership and funders.
    • Support grant compliance by ensuring that program milestones are met.
  4. Strategic Planning & Execution Support
    • Develop a work plan with timelines, deliverables, and measurable goals.
    • Identify potential risks, barriers, and mitigation strategies for program success.
    • Provide recommendations for sustainability beyond the contract period.

III. Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • 5+ years of experience in project management and program development, preferably within a nonprofit, chamber, or small business ecosystem.
  • Expertise in training and cohort-based learning program execution.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and partnership-building skills.
  • Experience in grant management and reporting (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MBCC’s mission and the Black business community in Minnesota is a plus.
  1. Contract Term & Compensation
  • Duration: 3 months (with potential for extension).
  • Compensation: Seeking proposals that outline a monthly retainer rate based on experience and deliverables.
  • Location: Hybrid (remote and in-person work in Minnesota as needed).
  • Start Date: ASAP.

VII. Selection Process

The MBCC Executive Committee and Leadership will review proposals and conduct interviews with top candidates. The final selection will be based on:

  • Relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to execute similar programs
  • Cost-effectiveness and alignment with MBCC’s budget
  • Availability and ability to start immediately
