JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Events Summer Intern

Job Purpose:

This position reports to the Director of Programming and Events. The Events Intern will play an integral role in creating Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce events and experiences that align with our mission and both serve and connect our member businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Areas of Responsibility and Specific Duties:

  • Work in partnership with the Director of Programming and Event, events committee, and additional staff to coordinate, plan and implement Chamber events.
  • Assist with building event web pages and managing registration details in our database.
  • Help coordinate with and track our work with caterers, vendors, venues and other event partners.
  • Organize and print event materials such as nametags, table tents, signage, etc.
  • Create content for PowerPoint presentations and social media.
  • Collaborate, research and help implement fun and innovative ideas to enhance current events or to new events.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Canva is a plus
  • Interest in events, marketing, hospitality, or related fields

  • Possibly of college credit depending on your institution’s criteria

This is a hybrid position that pays $18 per hour and will be scheduled approximately 10-15 hours per week. The schedule has some flexibility, but at least some of the work will be expected to be performed during normal business hours and there are at least 2 evening events per month. There will be opportunities to work in-person at our office as well as attend in-person events. Compensation will be provided to the successful candidate by the Saint Paul Chamber of Commerce (SPAC) through a contract for professional services. The employee will have payroll provided through SPAC and be accountable to the SPAC’s employment policies.
